For Mature Skin · Hydration First

A bronze
that respects your skin.

Your skin has earned a softer hand. Hydration comes first, the formula is chosen to read as your own complexion, and the aftercare is written in the language of comfort, not rules.

Why The Protocol Adapts

Hydration is the protocol.

Skin changes with age: renewal slows, the surface tends to be drier, and texture becomes more visible. All of it is easy to plan for.

i.

A softer canvas

Renewal slows with age, so color stays on the surface a little longer and shows texture more readily. A lighter depth sits gently on fine lines, and an even tone softens the look of discoloration.

ii.

Hydration is the difference

Consistent moisturizing in the weeks before makes an enormous difference. Dehydrated skin shows on a tan right away, as a crackly look, because the tan sits in the outer layers.

iii.

Pat, never rub

Rubbing is a form of exfoliation. Patting dry with a soft, dark towel is the smallest change, and it matters. Jana walks you through it before you leave.

Preparation, Gently

Gentle weeks. All hydration.

The ideal, not a rule. A little water, a little moisturizer, a glove in the shower, and the rest goes easily.

The Weeks Before

Hydrate, outside and in

Moisturize consistently and drink plenty of water. Consistently hydrated skin takes color more evenly.

Every Shower

Gentle exfoliation

A textured glove with light pressure, daily, including the morning of your appointment. Give elbows, knees, ankles and the backs of the heels a little extra attention.

Skincare

Tell Jana, stop nothing

You do not need to stop anything on your own. Retinoids and exfoliating acids speed fading; niacinamide and hyaluronic acid are generally compatible. For any prescription product, your doctor has the final word.

The Morning

Arrive clean and dry

Clean skin, no lotion, oil, deodorant, perfume or makeup on areas being tanned. Loose dark layers and easy shoes. The appointment itself takes about twenty minutes, and you stand for the application, so it fits easily into a Felton morning or an errand day in Aptos.

2, 4 or 6 Hours

A gentle rinse

Unity NR rinses at about 2, 4 or 6 hours depending on depth, and Jana gives you your time. Lukewarm water, no soap, pat dry with a dark towel. The color keeps developing for about 24 hours.

The Days After

Pat, never rub

Moisturize regularly with a product free of mineral oil and exfoliating acids. Shorter, cooler showers. Sunscreen whenever you are outdoors.

Begin with a Conversation

The first visit is a conversation.

Every appointment begins with a real conversation about hydration, undertone and what feels right to you. No formula is chosen before you have spoken.
